In November 2011, I asked "How do I let my Facebook friends view my Timeline posts without letting them comment on the posts?" I made sure to make my question clear, straightforward, and on-topic.
On Mar. 26, 2023, more than 11 years later, a mod unilaterally closed it as a duplicate of "How to disable comments for my post in Facebook? (closed)", asked in May 2012, which was more than five months after my question. That question has been closed as “needs details or clarity”, forming a chain of closed questions, pointing my question to an apparently low-quality question, and by extension, also marking my question as "needs details or clarity." I am confused as to why my question, which has remained open for more than 11 years, suddenly “needed details or clarity.”
I believe that the usual good moderation practice in the SE network is to not close questions as duplicates of low-quality questions (especially ones that are closed).
The duplicate target question is not helpful since it’s closed and doesn’t allow new answers to be posted. Facebook updates its site regularly, so a solution may come up for the problem I mentioned in the question. This issue I mentioned is still presently relevant and I still would like to know if there’s an answer to my question.
Since it is unclear what is unclear about my question, I request that it be reopened, or the dupe closure be reversed, since apparently, the other question is a bad question and "needs details or clarity". I believe my question is straightforward, clear, and on-topic: How do I let my Facebook friends view my Timeline posts without letting them comment on the posts?
If it still needs details or clarity, then how I can improve it to get it reopened? Which part of my question was unclear or lacking details? What details do I need to add? I think the closure reason was vague and not explained well. I also think it would be fair if I had a chance to respond to attempts to close my question before a mod closed it unilaterally, as is good practice on most SE sites.
Update: I have edited the question to make it as clear as possible and added details, following the mod feedback on this meta post. However, it was unilaterally left closed in the reopen review queue for the second time and remains closed as a duplicate of another closed question that "needs details or clarity," despite my edits to improve it. I don’t understand why this is the case and what else I can do to improve it. On other SE sites, I have seen that good moderation practice is to avoid closing questions as duplicates of closed questions. Could someone please explain this situation and provide some guidance?
